Torla

Walking into the village

The bird was nibbling on my ear!
This morning I changed my schedule a little bit...I didn't go swimming!!! Only because our hostel doesn't have a pool! As soon as I got up I had breakfast and then my family left to go to Torla.  It took only 1 hour. But once we got to our new hotel I ran straight to the pool and jumped in! Then I had some pasta, pizza and salad for lunch. After lunch we walked into town and looked at the shops for a while. When we were walking we saw 2 girls and a grandma with these little birds and they said we could hold them! So I put one on each shoulder. Afterwards we stopped at a restaurant.  For dinner I had salad, pasta and bread and for dessert I had melon. Me and Dad walked back under a cool tree branch pathway-so pretty! Once we got home it was time for bed.

Ainsa

The view from the hostal

Strolling the streets of Ainsa

Rainbow over Medieval Festival

We found a pony!

Sundown
Today again I got up and went swimming! Afterwards my family got packed to leave our campground to go to Ainsa.  It took 2 hours to drive there. On our way there we came head to head on a VERY narrow road with a big semi truck! We had no idea what to do so we went on the very edge and the truck just skimmed by us!  Our hostel that we were staying in was really cool because there was a basement with a LOT of bean bags in it and me and Tobin made an awesome fort out of them. After a rest we looked in the the shops and restaurants for a bit. Also right in the middle of the square there was a little medieval festival going on! Tobin and I stopped to go on a horse carousel. Then we stopped for dinner.  For dinner I had pesto pasta. On our way back we saw a Shetland pony in the middle of a grassy field! I stopped to pet it and get my picture taken with it. Then me and Tobin stayed in our hotel and watched YouTube videos while my parents went out for dinner. When they got back they insisted we got outside because it was so nice out, even though it was midnight.  So we all went for a small walk in the square and saw a band performing. After it was time to go to bed.

Biking in the Pyrenees

Swimming in the pool at Camping La Presella

The only living thing we saw in the village!

Biking with my Mom
This morning (like usual) I got up and went swimming. Then we drove into town and rented bikes to go on a 10 kilometer bike ride! Going biking was soooooooo hot but I just dumped some water on my head and it was all good. After a little bit it was super hot so we decided to take a break in very small village.  There were only about 10 houses! Later on, after a petite rest we continued biking until we got to a lake to dunk our heads in because (once again) it was soooooooooo hot! Thankfully the water was absolutely freezing so it cooled us off for a bit. Soon it was time to bike back and the whole way we just admired the beautiful scenery. As soon as I got home I jumped into the the pool and went swimming for a bit. Afterwards it was time for dinner but we had no idea where to eat! So we drove into the village to look for a restaurant but NOTHING was open yet - even though it was almost eight o'clock at night! We decided if we waited for a bit something would be open so we went and played soccer at a campground nearby. Still there was NOTHING open so we went back to a campground and got pizza there. Then I jumped in the pool one last time and went to bed!

Staying in the Bungalow

That's me at the old bridge in Besalu

Today I got up and went swimming with my Mom and Tobin while my Dad went to visit Dali's house. Afterwards we drove to Esterri D'Aneu and it took 5 hours to get there!!!  We stopped at a village called Besalu for a drink and so my parents could look at an old bridge.  The drive was soooooooo long and boring and the roads were so twisty and turny and VERY narrow!  Everybody was feeling car sick. When we finally arrived it was 8 o'clock so we ate some dinner at our amazing campground called Camping la Presella. For dinner we just ate some pasta. Afterwards we still had some time so I went for another swim and then after a very long day went to bed.

Sea kayaking

Kayaking with my mom

Shopping in Cadaques

Up at Cap de Crues

The magnificent view at Cap de Crues
This morning we got up and went swimming in the hotel pool. It was freezing! After swimming we went kayaking in the Mediterranean sea to a secret little beach and did some more swimming.  When we came back we walked into town and got a crepe - yummy! Me and Tobin were still hungry so we also got a smoothie and then did some shopping. After shopping it was dinner time, for dinner we drove up a crazy, scary rode to get to the restaurant. The view up there was sooooo beautiful and incredible! Unfortunately we didn't stay for dinner there because dad didn't feel safe driving back on the crazy road in the dark but at least we got to see the magnificent view! So we drove back into town and just went to a small shack for dinner near our hotel. Then it was time to go to bed.

Cadaques

The huge forest fire that you could see from the car...Scary!
The hotel in Cadaques with some smoke at the top

Tobin and I outside our hotel
The shops in Cadaques

Playing soccer in the village square
This day we got up and went to the beautiful seaside village of Cadaques. It's an hour and a half drive but today it took us four hours to get there!!! It took us that long because we got in a HUGE traffic jam because of the bad forest fire on the border of France! You could even see all the big pillars of smoke from the car. Finally when we arrived we stopped at our hotel called Hotel Calina then walked into town. Once we were in town we met 5 new friends and started playing soccer. By the end of the game there were 12 kids playing! It was a lot of fun! In the evening we went out for dinner in town on the sea wall. For dinner we had shrimp, gulas (little fish that are shaped like noodles), salad, croquetes, and JUST my parents had snails! Did you know that Cadaques was the summer home of the famous artist Salvador Dali? We got to even see Dali's house! After a long day we went to bed.

Asturies

Venus and I picking veggies in her garden

Jumping in to the strange water bowl.  The wind is pushing us forward!

Mmm...helados!

The sky looks so crazy because of all the smoke from the forest fire.
This morning I woke up and went with the girl who works at the casa(her name is Venus)and went to her wonderful vegetable garden.  It was so beautiful and amazing.  I even got to pick some vegetables and find some eggs!  After that we went to Platja Gola (the beach). It was very cool there because the water was shaped as a bowl! You would be three feet away from the shore and up to your neck and then a couple steps later you would be up to your ankles! Unfortunately we didn't stay there for long because it was soooooo windy. We decided to go to another beach called Sant Marti d'Empuries. But on the way there we saw and smelled so much smoke. It turned out that there's a huge forest fire in the woods kind of near us, by the border of France! Because of the fire the rest of the day was also soooooo windy. After the beach we went down another cobblestone area to do some shopping and have a ginormous milkshake sundae.  It was so delicious! After a while we went for dinner at a secret restaurant called La Bassa in a town called Ventallo. At dinner we ate the BEST pizza ever! When we got home we went to bed.

Girona

That's me kissing the lion's butt!

Walking through the town of Girona

On the steps of the cathedral

Today we went to Girona. It's a beautiful city that's very small. When we were there we went to a bunch shops in a long cobblestone area, including ice cream shops, meat shops, toy shops, clothing shops, chocolate shops and an awesome rock and mineral shop where I got a special crystal rock. Then we went to the ancient Arab Baths and Dad thought we could go swimming in them...he's so crazy! Also there was this legand that if you kissed this stone lion's butt it would give you good luck and we did! Later on we came back to our guest house and went swimming again with our friend Phoenix (the British 3 year old). Soon it was time for dinner. Tobin and I had dinner with the whole French family that lived there and Phoenix!
For dinner they served tomato pasta and skate fish.  It was very yummy. After dinner we played with the French kids for a little bit and then went to bed.

Sant Jordi Desvalls

Arriving at our beautiful guest house

Having a swim in the mini-pool

After an hour and a half drive we arrived in Sant Jordi Desvalls.  It's a tiny village with absolutely nothing to do!  We are staying in a gorgeous guest house called Casa Migdia.  Thankfully there's some stuff to do here like Foosball, pool, checkers, board games, cards, and best of all, a mini swimming pool.  Tobin and I spent the whole afternoon swimming!  The swimming pool is so cool.  It has a bunch of different levels that go deeper and deeper and deeper.  On the last level I can't even touch the ground without my head going underwater!  After swimming we had a lovely dinner.  For dinner my family had a tomato salad and risotto (kind of like a cheesy pasta with rice).  That day we also made a lot of new friends like Phoenix (a British 2 year old boy), Anais and Lucia (Irish sisters who are 8 and 9) and a whole French family that own the building.  They have five kids (whose names I can't remember)!  Finally it was time to go to bed.

Bus tour

                                                                  The Sagrada Familia

Jumping out of my skin!

Today we woke up and walked to the Sagrada Familia.  It was the most HUMONGOUS church I have ever seen!  There were angels, Greek gods, tiny pink balls, and construction workers (because it wasn't finished) everywhere!  This fantastic church was designed by Gaudi.  After we saw that we went on a tour bus all over the city.  In between buses we hopped off at Las Ramblas.  There were a few performing acts.  For one of them, the person was dressed up in a dragon costume and you could get your picture taken with him.  Tobin and I went to get our picture taken and he scared me so bad I jumped out of my skin!  Then we went on the next tour bus and saw more cool sculptures!  Tonight we ate a dinner at a yummy Mexican place called Cantina Mexicana.  Tobin and I ate a burrito with beans and cheese shaped as a pie.  After dinner it was getting pretty late so we all went to bed.

Arrival in Barcelona

Under the pillars in Park Guell

Gaudi's designs on the roof at Park Guell

Today we arrived in our flat!  It had two bunk beds (that's where Tobin and I slept) and one main coloured bed (that's where Mom and Dad slept).  Also there were two amazing patios to look out and see the view.  Later on the day we all went on a huge walk to Park Guell.  It had a spectacular sculpture that you could go in!  If you went under it, you could sit down against different pillars and you could look up and see all unique, very bright and colourful designs!  Every one was different!  Finally we went for dinner at an outside restaurant called Sureny.  Everyone split bread, scallops, potatoes and shrimp.  We sat outside in the square and everyone had a wonderful time!  After a great first day we went to bed at midnight.
