| Deadly spider |
This morning we had to get up so early to leave our house because we are going to Tortuguero. We had to get up at 5:30 in the morning! At tour van picked us up and took us for a two hour drive. We finally stopped for breakfast (I was so hungry!) before going with another tour guide named Laura. She took us on a 3 hour drive on a bumpy, unpaved road. Then we stopped and she came with us to go on one more ride! It was a small boat that took 2 hours up the canal. You can only get where we're going by boat and there's no cars there. On the boat ride we saw a sloth, iguana, lots of birds, a caiman and a crocodile! It was scary looking! Once we got to our cabins we stopped and had lunch. Our cabins have a pool so after lunch we jumped in and played for a while. Later on Laura took us to the beach to see baby turtles hatching on the beach and swimming into the ocean. We walked for about an hour and still didn't seen any turtles. When we were about to turn back we finally saw a baby turtle far from the water! The turtle was so tiny and adorable but it had a weak flipper and sand stuck in one eye! Because of only one flipper working it kept turning in circles and we knew it wouldn't make it to the water! I didn't just want to watch this baby turtle die and you're not allowed to touch them so we couldn't pick him up:(! There was a long, straight stick so we put it alongside of the turtle to direct it and it started making its way to the ocean. It took a long time because he kept stopping for a break. BUT...he finally made it to the water! We saved it! It was really amazing! On our way back we also saw another turtle making its way to the sea. It was healthy though! Afterwards we walked in the town just to see it for a few minutes then boated back to our cabins where we ate dinner. Then we went for a night walk to see frogs but unfortunately we didn't see any! I was all ready to go to bed and in my pjs and snuggled in and I went to brush my teeth and on the bathroom curtain there was a humongous spider!!! It was the size of my hand spread. I'm so scared of big spiders so I dropped my tooth brush and screamed at the top of my lungs then ran out the cabin. Turns out it was a really poisonous spider that could kill you; that's what our tour guide Laura told us when we made her come and take it out for us!!! After that big event I finally went to sleep!
