A Stormy Day on the Amalfi Coast

Hiking down to the beach

We can definitely hang out here for a bit!!!

Snorkeling, swimming, reading

This was my destiny.

Dark clouds brewing over Ravello

Scary storm
We slept in pretty late this morning because of the fantastic show last night!!! Once we left our house, we headed back up the stairs until we got to a little dirt walking path along the side of the cliff. We didn't really know where we were going - we just wanted to go down to the water and find a hotel with a pool and wifi. If we walked down this mountain we would eventually reach the coastline, where we knew there would be a few hotels that had nice swimming pools and our precious wifi. Walking down endless steps and stairs and hanging onto the edge of the cliff as we walked down dirt pathways was what our long walk (to an unknown destination!) consisted of. We didn't see a single soul on our walk down the mountain, and the view of the ocean and all the small houses in the distance was amazing, as always.

Finally, after dragging ourselves through the hot heat, we reached a Best Western hotel. By this time I was just ready to go into a pool, no matter what it took!! So we explained to the receptionist our dilemma and how we simply just wanted to use their pool and wifi and get something to eat. I pulled out all my best tricks! I used my different accents and said how we were going to die of heat and the pool would nourish our souls. I even broke my flip flop (well it was basically broken as it was) and said I wouldn't be able to walk. But no, the lady said it was "too busy" but she did give me a new pair of flip flops from the spa - hahaha!! She suggested a place down the road that we could walk to. Now we were walking on the busy highway!! Just like that we went from the quiet mountain into the packed highway with cars zooming past us every two seconds. Every time we turned a corner, a car came booking it past us and I thought we were all gonna turn into road kill.

After walking for what seemed like hours, we reached the next hotel. To get into the hotel there was this large metal gate that we needed to get through. It was very unclear on how to get in so we just kept buzzing the receptionist hoping someone would open the gate. No one came to rescue us so we decided to just call the hotel off their website and ask them to let us in! They were very friendly and said, "Sure, sure, just come in the door. It's unlocked". We tried again. The door was still locked! So we called back for a second time and they were like, "Just walk through the blue door!" Wait?? A blue door?? We were waiting outside a metal old door!! Very confused, we called the hotel back for the third time and they said "Just come to Villa San Michele!" It turned out the hotel we were waiting at had been closed for the summer and whenever you call them your call gets forwarded to this other hotel. We gave up and continued on our journey, hoping to reach the hotel we talked to on the phone! It took even more walking down the crazy highway along the cliff but we made it there after trying all the other places!!! We are finally successful!!!

At the Villa San Michele, we had lunch looking over the water. I had grilled swordfish, which is my favorite fish at the moment!! Their hotel was connected to the ocean so we got to have our long waited, definitely needed swim!! But as soon as we got in the ocean it started to rain. That's not a bad thing for me though, I love the rain. In fact I liked swimming in the ocean even more with the rain...it made it magical!! We met some kids from Texas and played with them for a while and I read my book by the ocean! After a few hours we walked back up to the road and to the nearest bus stop.

Now listen closely to this story because the time we spent at this bus stop will never leave my mind and has burned into my heart. It all started out fine and dandy when we arrived just before 5 pm at the bus stop. Usually a bus comes every 15 minutes so we waited patiently as we usually do. Little did we know what we were in for. At 5:30 there was still no sign of a bus and we were ready to go home. Thankfully at 5:45 a bus comes, but does it stop? No. It just leaves us at the bus stop to rot and die. By 6:00 the storm came. Rain poured non stop and thunder filled the sky, making it hard to even hear because it was so loud. I think it started raining because god was so sad he was bawling because of the pain we were suffering at the bus stop. Now you might be thinking, "Why don't you walk home?" We considered it but we would have to walk down that busy highway with crazy divers sliding everywhere in the pouring rain and then back up that dirt hill (basically a mud slide now) and the next town was 5km away and it was 100 euro to get a taxi!!!  Ain't nobody got that type of money!!. We were trapped at this bus stop like sitting ducks!! At 6:30 another bus came that I swear wasn't even that busy but THE BUS DRIVER DOESN'T STOP. I started thinking of my future and how I would have to graduate at this bus stop and get married at this bus stop because the bus will never stop for us. By 7:00 we had been there for 2 hours and I think the chances of a bus coming is as likely as the chances of the rain stopping at this cursed bus stop. Two things that will NEVER HAPPEN. I started hallucinating and seeing all the other people at the bus stop turning into mini busses. Finally, FINALLY, after a lifetime of waiting, the bus came. Our prayers had been answered. We were saved!!!!! The bus was so packed I couldn't even breath. Dad had to sit on the dash board and I had to tuck myself into a ball on the ground beside the driver and hope for the best. It was quite the adventure, this bus ride. I think I was a new person when we finally got off it. RIP to the Woodworths 2015 August 7th who had to wait at the bus stop for over two hours. Also, I documented the whole experience so stay tuned for some exclusive, rare footage from our documentary coming out called "Transit terror: Living at a bus stop."

Once we arrived in town, the storm really started coming. Thunder and lighting filled the sky and I thought we were in a movie because of how close and realistic it was! The rain was coming down so hard that if you stepped out of a house for one second, you would be drenched. I couldn't think straight because of the booming and cracking from the thunder was so loud. We still had to walk down all those stairs in this storm just to make it home. Ok wowowow this blog is wayyyy too long!!! In short, we surprisingly made it home alive through the storm and rain but we did get SOAKED and had dinner and didn't leave the house because it was the biggest storm I had ever seen in my life - even better than in the movies!! I even thought that our house was going to get blown away by a tornado!!! It was so windy I couldn't even walk!!! At home I read my book, watched the storm then went to bed glad to not be sleeping at the bus stop.

CREEP IT REAL-mimirockzzz king Julian
