Rincon de la Vieja

Rincon de la Vieja Volcano

Coati in the park

I guess this should have been a clue that we weren't heading on a 3 km loop!!!

Today we got up and had a driver drive us to Rincon de la Vieja. On the way we stopped in Liberia because it was Black Friday! Tobin got a pair of new sneakers and I wanted to get some clothes but the line up was so long so I couldn't. When we got to the volcano in Rincon de la Vieja we went for a two hour hike. On the hike we saw three agoutis, a huge pack of coatis and capuchin monkey with a baby on its back! We had been walking for so long and thought we were almost at the end of the loop, but it turned out we had taken the wrong trail and had to walk the whole way back that we had already did! I was super tired, but I really enjoyed the hike, even though we went the wrong way! Then we got back in the van and kept driving on the dirt road to our final destination. Our driver even had to drive through a couple of rivers to get there! On the way we saw a sabenero guy with two oxens and we stopped to take our pictures with him. The oxen had a weird hump on them and were wearing a costume. Finally we got to the Borinquen Resort which was on the other side of the volcano. Over all it took about two and a half hours to get there. At the resort we had to take a golf cart up a super steep hill to get to our little villa. It was so pretty and we had a view of the entire valley! Once we checked in we went for dinner at the hotel and then went to bed.
